So the layout of the site had really been bothering me, so I decided to change things up. I think the site has a much cleaner look. Everything is easier to find and there is more for you to enjoy. Below is the cloud for Chapter 2 of Dracula's Apprentice. Be sure to check it out on Amazon.com!
Teaching and Living History Dracula’s Apprentice Challenge
Update*** Over 350 free copies of Dracula's Apprentice were downloaded during the free promotion. 7 donors raised over $300 towards my Go Fund Me, so that is something to be excited about. Thank you to everyone who participated, and an extra special thanks to my donors! The target has been lowered from $1000 to $900. I will give away free hard copy editions of Dracula's Apprentice once that target is met! ***Update On July 2nd, 3rd and 4th, my novel Dracula’s Apprentice will be available for free download on Amazon Kindle! In return all I ask is on your honor for each download please donate $1 to my Teaching and Living History Campaign on Go Fund Me. This will allow my students to experience history the same way that I did, when my professors and teachers would dress up in period outfits. To this day I have not forgotten it and I want them to have that opportunity as well. If the target $1000 is reached by the 4th of July, I will select 10 random donors to win a paperback copy of Dracula’s Apprentice! 1 grand prize winner will get a signed personalized edition of the novel. Stretch goal for every $50 increment above $1000, another grand prize winner will be selected! Each $1 donated will be one entry into the raffle.
Had such a great time talking with everyone on twitter on Tuesday night. Thanks to everyone who participated. I am looking forward to speaking with everyone again August 3rd!
A teacher will tell you that summer always goes by way to fast. A writer will tell you that sometimes it can be hard to find times to write and still be able to function. Sure, I could write all I wanted to between the hours on midnight and 6am, but not only would the writing suffer, but also the rest of my life. I'm looking forward to taking advantage of what remains of summer to get a story out to all of you that has been very fun for me to work on.
This has been quite an eventful summer.
Here we are at the beginning of summer vacation, what every teacher works towards. It has been great spending time with my kids. There has been plenty of time to write in the evenings, and I am hoping to have a complete draft of my next novel completed before school starts! I have found, however, that this project is so much larger than Dracula's Apprentice was that getting in done in that amount of time will be quite the challenge. Summer, unfortunately, does not equal endless free time--its cramming in a year's worth of to do's into about 7 weeks. Still. I will make every effort. Throw in some more concerts and family time, and it should be a great 7 weeks!
As a teacher, I feel like a lot of my peers are feeling that crunch for summer. The hours before summer vacation can be grueling, and I could go on and on about the 15 hour day I put in yesterday. Needless to say last night no writing got done. Plans are to write all summer, working on Slayers and hopefully getting a complete draft done. You guys will be with me every step of the way, and I am looking forward to it.
Dropped the big news after Wrestlemania 31 that the hard copy of Dracula's Apprentice was finally ready for sale. Words cannot describe the excitement. I was a proud author when I released the kindle edition, but holding the hard copy in my hand, feeling the pages, smelling the binding; it took that feeling of accomplishment to a whole new level. I am looking forward to talking to everyone during the virtual launch party on Monday night. Remember to use the #DraculasApprenticeQuestions and tweet @MikeZimAuthor so I can keep your questions in oder.
My fellow authors and authors to be must have gone through an experience like this one, looking forward to their hard copy launch. Any advice or suggestions? Share them here! Good evening,
Vampire pun; see what I did there? Thank you all for checking out the inaugural blog post. As I continue down this writing path, I am hoping to get a greater connection with you, avid reader. Since my first novel dealt with vampires, I am leaning in the directions that there was some act of literary indulgence that brought you to appreciate this niche in fiction. For myself, the classic, Bram Stokers' Dracula was the tipping of the scale. I will never forget reading that novel in 10th grade and having the idea to one day contribute something to this craft. So, what book sparked your interest in the undead? |
